What exactly are L Salon and Color Group apprentices (Junior Designers)?  
All of our apprentices are licensed cosmetologists who receive advanced education for up to two years.  During this period we offer their services at a great savings to you.  This program insures quality control for all L Salon clients.

How long before they graduate to the next level?  
It usually depends on the individual’s progression. The average time to be promoted to the designer or colorist  level is between 12 to 24 months.

What is the price for an apprentice?  
Morning hair-cutting classes are $20 and color classes for tints  are $35;  highlights are $50. Hair-cutting classes are Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 8:30 am & Fridays at 9:30 am. Color classes are on Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 8:30 am only.

Do apprentices cut and color hair?  
Yes, we have many apprentices that do both cut and color, but most specialize in either one or the other.  For more information click here.

Who blow-dries my hair after the color?  
Blow dries are not included with chemical services. There are a few choices that a client can choose from:

A) Clients can make an appointment with  their hair designer for a blow dry with an extra charge.

B) Clients can ask if a Jr. designer is available to do the blow dry with no extra charge.

C) Clients can use our new private room which is equipped with all necessary materials such as brushes, hair driers, and products to blow dry their own hair.

What is a tint ?  
Permanently lightens, darkens, and changes natural hair color: lasts 4 to 6 weeks.

What are highlights & lowlights?  
They give hair special effects by weaving, slicing, or ribboning multi-dimensional colors throughout the hair, lasts up to 4 months. This process takes approximately two hours to apply.

How many different types of haircuts do you have?  
There are many different types of haircuts. L Salon and Color Group customize each haircut to fit a customers face shape, hair texture, image, and lifestyle.

What is the "in" style?  
Each style has to first fit the individuals face shape and image; haircuts just can’t be trendy. At L Salon & Color Group we  take a hair style and keep updating it, to make client's look and feel beautiful.  Hair cuts at this time are layered with lots of texture- hair is light, airy, and feathered with lots of bold colors and dimensional highlights.

What are my color choices?
BRUNETTES:  Woody Brown, Spicy Brown, Chocolate Brown, Velvet Brown
BLONDES:  Buttery, Carmel, Honey, Icy
REDS:  Bordeaux, Hot, Copper, Chestnut, Mahogany, Strawberry

How long does a highlight last?
Even though highlights will grow out natural looking, they are still a permanent hair color that should be touched up every 3-6 months depending on the amount of highlights that you have in your hair.

What is the difference between  section, custom and full highlights?
Section, custom, and full highlights serve different purposes for the hair.  A section highlight is 12-15 foils and they are usually placed around the face and top of the head.
Custom highlights are just like they sound, they are customized to a persons face, shape and hair style. They usually end at the top of the ears, and under the occipital bone in back. Full highlights are the entire head (including nape section). 

*Please note, sometimes higher charges may be applied depending on length of hair.

What is a glaze?
A translucent color gloss that richens natural hair color while putting a protective shine on hair.  

Dream of shiny, healthy hair?  Glazing is the solution! It can last up to 5 weeks.

How do they remember what color I used the last time I came here?
We store all your color records on a computer so no matter what colorist you see, your full history will be available.

Our price level structure reflects the education of our designers & technicians. This is determined by training and years of experience.

I am a swimmer, what type of product do I use? 
Prior to swimming, apply a generous amount of leave-in conditioner on wet hair to protect it against chlorine. After swimming, rinse the hair thoroughly  with a clarifying shampoo, such as Sunday Shampoo.   Both products are available by Bumble & Bumble.

Can I color my hair if I’m pregnant?  
You should always  check with your doctor when considering coloring hair when pregnant. If the doctor gives the green light, there are several ways to color the hair that is safe for you and the baby.  Contact one of our color experts for details.

I got a bad color at a different salon. Can you correct it?  
We may be able to correct the color depending what products/chemicals were used and the condition of the hair.  We always recommend to come in for a complimentary consultation, and at that time our color specialist  will be able to determine the best course of action as well as pricing.
